My parents HATE overwatch because it takes up our entire wifi whenever my brother goes online and when I bought myself the new Zelda my mom was like “can I watch Netflix? or are you playing” and I was like no, no don’t worry it doesn’t take up internet. and she was so relieved and started walking towards the TV in her room and I was like “you want to watch it out here? I can switch to the handheld mode” and she was so impressed that she could watch Master Chef next to me while I played my game. Nintendo is truly the family system.

nintendo paid for this post

when i was a little kid, i didn’t care for movies. my parents always admonished me for sitting too close to the screen or fidgeting too much, so i turned to books instead. when i was four, i tried to watch the first harry potter movie. i absolutely loved it, but it wasn’t enough for me. i had to get my hands on that book. the teachers at pre-school said it was a horrible idea, but i read the first two books anyway.

then came kindergarten. the teachers scolded my parents for letting me bring novels to school. “she can’t possibly understand them,” they said. so they gave me tests on the books. i made perfect scores on all of them. i preferred books to movies and television; movies didn’t do justice to the stories i loved.

so, they marked me down as a “gifted child.” they tested my IQ and everything. i was the perfect student, in their eyes. i sat in the front and listened to the teachers as intently as i could.

one day after school, i ran up to my mother and hugged her. then, i turned my head and saw my mother walking towards me. i looked up at the woman i had hugged. “you’re not my mother,” i said, astutely.

my mother, a clever woman, thought to have my eyesight tested. turns out, i had horrible vision. somewhere around 20/450. functionally blind without glasses. not ideal for anyone, especially a six year old.

all my life until that point, people thought i must be some sort of brilliant prodigy, eschewing television and movies for more intellectual pursuits, but actually i just couldn’t fucking see lol

This took a different direction than I was expecting.

I dont know too much about Dalmatians or what they were bred for so the other day i was talking to the security guard on campus about em and decided to google why they’re so aggressive and hard to handle and apparently its because they were bread as coach dogs, which means that they were trained to run alongside a coach or carriage and fucking attack anything that wasn’t their carriage. Like they were bonded to the horses used to pull the coach and to their handlers and other than that they would just jump anyone who came near em. If you had coach dogs you actually had to have someone who rode ahead and warned anyone coming toward you that you had coach dogs so they could move out of the way and not get attacked. So thats a mystery solved for me.

That’s fuckin wild I had no idea

*me, a Regency-era noble, displaying my wealth and status by releasing a large pack of dalmatians onto the street* fuck it up, boys

I grew up with dalmatians and yeah, they can be territorial if they’re not socialized and holy shit do they have so much energy, but.

But.

The best interaction I ever saw was the time my dog Maggie first met a horse. She was running around outside and some guy was riding a horse down our street because fuck it, I have a horse, I do what I want.

Maggie screeched to a halt, staring at the horse. I began running over there because I wasn’t sure if she was going to start barking or trying to chase it or what, and then I saw her whole body language sort of shift, like hundreds of years of selective breeding were making themselves known for the first time.

Her tail began wagging, very slowly. I could see her think, “Big…friend?” She got closer and her tail began wagging faster. “Big Friend!!” She began absolutely dancing around this horse, I have never seen her so happy.

She ran next to the horse for as long as I would let her (the rider thought it was hilarious), and she was incredibly disappointed when her Big Friend had to go home.

And that’s the story of how I tried to convince my mom we needed a horse for my dog.

That’s the best story I’ve ever heard

i wonder how many “hey guys are super hot no homo tho hahaha” type guys would identify as bisexual if male bisexuality was talked about more often and not like… ignored and forgotten about

I had a strongly Christian underclassman tell me that he and his girlfriend would both be a bit into boys and girls, respectively, if it was more accepted. He nervously described himself as bicurious when he spoke to me, an openly bi guy. I was thinking out loud and mentioned that I thought that being bicurious… wasn’t necessarily a thing, for lack of a better phrase, because if someone was attracted to the same gender, even if they’re attracted more to another one, they’re still bi. He kind of looked surprised and said, “oh. I guess I’m bi then.”

Let men and boys be bi. Encourage men and boys to explore their sexualities. Don’t tell them off for being affectionate, whether platonically or not, and don’t insist that they’re gay.
